In June 1996 I approached Magnus Ltd. (who are a property company based in Macclesfield, Cheshire) to enquire whether they were interested in including any sculpture in their well publicised proposed refurbishment of the old Macclesfield Council premises.
I was asked to work on a proposal for a wall based sculpture for the main foyer. In July 1996 this proposal was accepted. During the making of this piece they asked me to ‘sculpt’ a car park barrier for the rear of the building. Sovereign Court was awarded a Civic Award for ‘Recognition of good design, preservation and enhancement of the character of the town and the promotion of its identity’ in April 1997. I was one of four people named on the design team.
